Monday

On an Island, in a blue bay

The ninja rain returned to Hawai'i last week. Bright sunny skies and, well, a light mystical rain coming down from who knows where; here they say, "the lighter the rain, the bigger the blessing." I can agree with this. Along with the rain came two of my dearest friends back from summer wanderings in the mainland and abroad where they made many adventures. One of my amigas ventured off to Peru for a surf safari and to spent the winter solstice partying in Lima followed by, I've been told, a transcendental experience in Macchu Picchu. The other, my Big Island sister spent time on both coasts, beginning in California for work and then then the East Coast for play. Their trips embodied Helen Keller's words, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all," and as they work to their next big adventures they both know that no one can take the experiences away from them, and that makes the being kinda broke now worthwhile. Money can always be made, but time once past is gone forever. How wonderful to travel! Especially when there is so much world to smell, taste, feel, hear, and see!

It's Monday and the beginning of a new month. This August 2009 marks many wonderful possibilities. The Black Eyed Peas and Ziggy Marley will be here, KanDoo Island will have it's soft opening (during this time kama'aina get on the boat for free!), and the state's 50th bday! I leave you with this thought - In life, you don't always get what you want, but you most certainly get what you need. A HUI HOU - until we meet again.
